Legal Roundtables

Legal Roundtables Managing Partners Roundtables

Once a month, the managing partners of law firms, many of which are in the highest tier of the national 100, meet in Los Angeles in private at an exclusive hotel. They compare notes and get practical advice from Ed Poll, the country's leading expert in law firm profitability. It's a chance for the heads of these leading law firms to speak frankly with each other and get guided comments from their peers.

The setting is a unique opportunity, not offered in any trade association or bar association, to get ideas that will increase a law firm's profitability. These managing partners get to learn from each others' experience to avoid mistakes and capitalize on good ideas. They can compare the ideas that worked -- and those that didn't.

Ed Poll has hosted the Managing Partners Roundtables since 1995. The partners and executive directors trust Ed's opinion and respect his judgment. They get confidence from his track record of straightening out troubled law firms and helping successful law firms build on their own talents.

Membership entitles the managing partner to attend 12 meetings. The size of the roundtables are limited to preserve confidentiality, maximize interaction, and maintain the collegial forum.

If you wish to apply to join one of the Managing Partners Roundtables, please contact Ed Poll at edpoll@lawbiz.com or (310) 827-5415.

Executive Directors Roundtable

Ed hosted an Executive Directors Roundtable, also in the Los Angeles area, which is not currently active. Members of this roundtable were the chief operating officers of the leading firms that participate in the Managing Partners Roundtables.

Diversity Directors Roundtable

Ed Poll's Diversity Directors Roundtable, another outgrowth of the Managing Partners Roundtables and also based in Southern California, is a recent and growing addition to the roundtable concept. Addressing diversity issues within any working environment not only can help organizations avoid legal ramifications stemming from blatant or inadvertent discriminatory practices, but understanding diversity issues also can help improve productivity and employee relations. Through his expertise in facilitation and workshop design, Ed Poll helps law firms to organize workshops through which they can discuss and address diversity issues.
