New LawBiz® Practice Management Program Geared Towards Advancing Women Lawyers Debuts in September

Legal Management Expert Ed Poll Provides Practical Advice for Women Attorneys

LOS ANGELES, CA — March 24, 2014 — Nationally recognized legal management expert and author Ed Poll today announced the availability of a new program from the LawBiz® Practice Management Institute focused on driving success for women lawyers.

The Women's Leadership Program, developed and offered in conjunction with Rebecca Torrey, partner at Manatt Phelps & Phillips, is a unique one and a half day educational experience that combines a focus on the key aspects of law practice management, while highlighting many of the challenges faced by women as they advance in the legal profession.

"Women are increasingly making up a large percentage of lawyers, sole practitioners, and partners at larger law firms," said Poll. "While many of the skills required to build a successful law practice are not gender-specific, in many cases there are unique challenges faced by women as they advance in the profession. Our goal is to equip women lawyers with the tools they need to be successful in the increasingly competitive legal profession."

"Traditionally, women in law firms have not had the opportunity of learning from male sponsors or mentors about the day-to-day economics of managing a law practice," said Rebecca Torrey, equity partner at Manatt Phelps & Phillips. "Understanding the business side of the legal profession can help women raise the ‘glass ceiling,' and provide great value to clients and to their firm."

This is the second program offered by Ed Poll's LawBiz® Practice Management Institute. The initial Practice Management Program, held in 2012, received rave reviews from attendees.

Ed Poll is a nationally recognized law practice expert and author who has consulted to lawyers and law firms in strategic planning, profitability analysis, and practice development for over 20 years. The recipient of the California State Bar's Law Practice Management and Technology (LPMT) first Lifetime Achievement Award—named after him—Poll has authored more than 20 books, CDs and DVD collections on running a profitable law practice.

The Women's Leadership Program will be offered March 6-7, 2015 in Marina del Rey, CA. Discounts are available for early enrollment (prior to December 5, 2014), for LawBiz Management coaching clients, and for spouses/significant others and additional partners attending from the same firm.
